CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

CEA English Academy, an official preparation centre for Cambridge Assessment English, is looking for dedicated and qualified teachers to join our teaching staff at the Kota Kinabalu and Tawau (Sabah) centres. We offer a wide range of courses, from Junior English for children as young as 4 years old to academic and professional English for working professionals.

All candidates must be able to commit to teaching a one-year course (approximately from Jan to mid November) but can join us at any time of the year. Candidates with relevant teaching qualifications (e.g., TKT, CELTA, Trinity TESOL or TEFL) and teaching experience are welcome to join us.

Successful candidates will be provided with the Scheme of Work and Lesson Plans based on the Cambridge English syllabus for the courses they will teach. They are expected to engage with students creatively, manage and organise their teaching-related administrative tasks effectively. They must also be able to function as part of a team, and independently when necessary.

ROLES AND EXPECTATIONS OF A SPEAKING EXAMINER

  1. Successful applicants are required to attend face-to-face training for at least 4 hours for each exam level.
  2. As different exam sessions may fall on different dates and differ in the number of candidates, not all Speaking Examiners are needed for a specific session.
  3. However, Speaking Examiners are asked to be ready for duty within the speaking test windows (during the week or at weekends). Typically, Speaking Examiners will be notified at least 1 month before an exam session.
  4. Speaking Examiners are very often required to travel. Travel and accommodation costs are reimbursable.
  5. To keep an active status, it is obligatory for Speaking Examiners to:
    • Examine at least one exam session per year
    • Attend the annual face-to-face certification meetings and
    • Do their certification on the online Professional Support Network annually.
  6. All Speaking Examiners are constantly monitored and evaluated by a Team Leader.

Examiners are required to adhere to a Code of Practice and Confidentiality Undertaking and to follow all directives from the Centre Administrator and Cambridge Assessment English.
